Hi there, welcome to my research website where I have highlighted authors who have played a part in developing early Canadian romance. Through examining the socio-economic issues of their day, I use romance novels to explore Canadian history in an unique way as our first one was published in Kingston 202 years ago. My first case study on St. Ursula's Convent by Julia Beckwith Hart is an ongoing case study looking at the novel through an entertainment lense. As my research expands, I will be delving into other topics with romance novels as the base of my research.

To further understand my selection of authors, please refer to my guidelines. Since my research covers authors whose writing careers began between 1824-2000, it's good to be aware that some of the authors may have works that haven't aged well,  and that they might hold hurtful content. I am still vetoing some of the authors and adding additional names to the map, so that the research remains focused and clear.

This project remains free and open to the public, but I do appreciate credit. The map itself is best enjoyed  on a PC screen versus a phone. Be sure to check out my other initiatives next to the Guidelines tab.

Enjoy and happy reading!

Christine
